The Lexington Nonprofit Coalition hosted the event, which featured Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton, her opponent Raquel Carter, and several candidates running for city council seats. Organizers said they wanted to give people a chance to connect directly with the candidates.
Gorton and Carter both stressed the importance of government working alongside nonprofits to create the strongest city possible.
"Our community can't survive without nonprofits and volunteers who do a lot of the work that government can't do," said Gorton.
"This is actually why I'm running for mayor, because I know all of us together can continue to make a city that's already great even greater," Carter said.
Election day is November 3rd, with early voting on Thursday, October 29th, through Saturday, October 31st.
