According to local 911 dispatchers, Bevin was arrested Thursday by the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office. He was later listed as an inmate at the Jefferson County jail, with contempt of court given as the reason for his arrest.
The case involves Bevin’s failure to turn over financial records requested by a judge, including documents showing his income, bank statements and tax returns. Judge Angela Johnson had repeatedly ordered Bevin to provide the records, but he missed several deadlines and court appearances.
Johnson previously ordered Bevin to spend 60 days in jail and pay a $500 fine. She also declined to cancel the arrest warrant until he provided the requested documents.
Bevin’s former wife, Glenna Bevin, filed for divorce in 2023 and has complied with the court’s requests for financial records.
Bevin, a Republican, served as Kentucky’s governor from 2015 to 2019.
