According to GOP colleague, McConnell to be back in Washington later this month

Kentucky Congressman James Comer says McConnell’s staff are hoping the longtime senator will return when the Senate reconvenes on September 14.

McConnell has been away from the Capitol since June, when he was hospitalized after a fall at his home. He later spent time in rehabilitation before returning home to continue his recovery.

McConnell’s office has not confirmed a return date, saying there are no scheduling announcements at this time.

The 84-year-old Republican is serving the final months of his Senate career and is not seeking reelection.
