Georgetown Police are looking for this SUV, involved in a hit-and-run that injured a child who was getting on a school bus.

Georgetown police are investigating a hit-and-run after a vehicle struck an elementary school student Thursday morning while the child was crossing the road to board a school bus.

The crash happened around 7:08 a.m. near Valley Forge Court. Assistant Police Chief Josh Nash said the bus had stopped with its stop arm out when a dark-colored SUV drove past and hit the child.

The Southern Elementary School student was taken by ambulance to a hospital. At the time of this report, the child’s condition has not been released.

Police said the vehicle did not stop and may have been leaving the Scroggins Park area. Investigators are looking for a small- to mid-sized black or dark-colored SUV, possibly a GMC Acadia, that was last seen heading toward Washington Square. The vehicle may have front-end damage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Georgetown police at 502-863-7826 or the Georgetown-Scott County 911 Center at 502-863-7820. Tips can also be submitted through the Tip 411 app.
