The Christian County Health Department says the person was not vaccinated and contracted measles from someone in another community experiencing an outbreak.
A statement released by CCHD Director Devin Brumfield said officials are now working with the Kentucky Department for Public Health and local partners to identify anyone who may have been exposed.
"The Christian County Health Department (CCHD) remains committed to protecting the health and safety of our residents,” said Brumfield. “CCHD staff are working closely with the Kentucky Department for Public Health and local partners to identify potential exposures, notify those who may be at risk, and provide appropriate guidance.”

says measles is almost entirely preventable for people who receive both recommended doses of the vaccine.
“Measles is a serious, debilitating and sometimes life-threatening disease. Fortunately, measles is almost entirely preventable for those who have been vaccinated with two doses of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine. We urge all parents and caregivers to talk to their healthcare providers about their child’s immunizations and how best to keep their families healthy," said Stack.
The case comes as measles infections continue to increase nationwide, while Kentucky has one of the lowest kindergarten vaccination rates in the country.
