ONE Lexington survivor-led grants go unawarded this year

ONE Lexington — the city's official youth anti-gun violence program — won't be handing out any survivor-led gun violence prevention grants this year.

ONE Lexington put out the call for applicants earlier this year with a submission deadline of March 19. Selected organizations could receive up to $80,000 to help fund their work.

But the anti-violence initiative says only one submission met the requirements — and that group has declined, citing the need for more time to meet the expectations attached to the grants.

ONE Lexington says it will, however, continue providing support and services to those directly affected by gun violence this fiscal year. The group plans to accept applications for the survivor-led organization aid next year.

ONE Lex is keeping the names of the groups that did apply private.
