When asked by WUKY about repeated unproven claims of election interference by Trump, Beshear said these claims have eroded public trust in elections, noting that election challenges have been repeatedly addressed in court.
"It was a full and fair election. That's a fact. Period," Beshear said. "You can't just continue to disagree with people and lie about it. And the harm it does to our country is significant," Beshear said.
Republican Secretary of State Michael Adams also defended Kentucky's election system. In a statement, Adams said the Commonwealth has made significant improvements to both election security and voter access since 2020, adding that Kentucky's elections are now considered among the nation's best.
Despite the president's claims of election security breaches, he did not provide evidence to support them.
Independent audits, court rulings, and official investigations have consistently found no evidence of widespread voter fraud in U.S. elections. More than 60 lawsuits challenging the 2020 election were rejected, and federal cybersecurity officials have repeatedly said U.S. elections are among the most secure in the nation's history.
