Fayette school board places Liggins on leave, names Bill Bradford acting superintendent

Karyn Czar/WUKY

Following a lengthy closed session Wednesday night, the Fayette County Public School Board elevated the district's assistant superintendent to the leading role.

Amid confusion over Dr. Demetrus Liggins' intentions regarding a separation agreement, the board voted to place Liggins on paid administrative leave pending a review of his employment.

In his stead will be Dr. Bill Bradford, who has served as assistance superintendent.

In the meantime, the board has also retained a firm to review Liggins' employment.

No motion was put forward to address Liggins' separation package.
