Kentucky Congressman Andy Barr coasted to a speedy victory in the GOP primary field while former state Rep. Charles Booker duked it out with former U.S. Senate candidate Amy McGrath Tuesday night.

Barr's race was among the first to be called Tuesday night, as the congressman raced by second-place finisher Daniel Cameron, who garnered 31% of voters. Barr, the Trump-endorsed candidate, claimed 60%.

Booker's win was less certain for a portion of the evening, with McGrath's numbers eventually tumbling. Booker finished with 47% of the vote tally. McGrath won 36%.

The general election race is seen as a steep climb for Booker in an increasingly red state that handed President Donald Trump overwhelming wins in 2016 and 2024.

Democrats have not won a U.S. Senate race in the commonwealth since 1992.
