The city, the University of Kentucky, and Fayette County Public Schools are hosting a week of creek walks, cleanups, and workshops to celebrate and protect local waterways.

This year's lineup kicks off tonight with a family-friendly terrarium building event at the Arboretum, illustrating the power of the water cycle.

Tomorrow is the Reforest Frenzy at Hisle Farm Park, with 1-mile, 5K, or 10K races. Every sign-up raises money for Lexington's tree-planting program, and ever runner takes home a t-shirt and a tree.

Later in the week, highlights include a Salamander Spotlight at Raven Run, a karst topography tour at McConnell Springs, and microplastics education at the Kentucky Theatre. The events celebrate local streams and rivers, and aim to educate residents on how their everyday choices can affect water quality.
