The group called "Your Hometown Heroes," operating in Marion County, has been permanently blocked from engaging in any charitable activity or fundraising, and all its licenses have been revoked.
The group's website, which was still active as of Monday afternoon, promises donors the chance to send care packages to active duty troops and veterans. It also claims the group is active in 20 states and seeks $30 donations to sponsor the packages.
Attorney General Russell Coleman said the Office of Consumer Protection opened an investigation into the organization after individuals associated with Your Hometown Heroes were arrested in Marion County for allegedly lying to get donations.
The group has also been hit with a $421,000 monetary judgment.
WUKY reached out to Your Hometown Heroes, but did not immediately receive a response.
