Kentucky leaders on both sides of the aisle have been critical of President Donald Trump's tariff policies, warning that reliable trading partners may take their business elsewhere — pointing to the backlash against bourbon as an example.
Yet, despite those worries, the latest export numbers for the commonwealth are being touted by the state's Democratic governor as a win.
"Kentucky has once again set an all-time record for products shipped globally with $50.6 billion dollars in exports in 2025. That's a 5.65% increase over 2024," he said, quickly adding that the increase would have been even larger "but for Trump's tariffs."
Aerospace products remain Kentucky's top export, followed by industrial machinery, motor vehicles, and pharmaceuticals.
Canada is the leading importer of Kentucky goods. Rounding out the top five are the United Kingdom, France, China, and Mexico.
