Originally set for January 28, the yearly count was postponed due to Lexington's prolonged bout with winter weather.
Now, the city is looking for volunteers to visit outdoor locations, conduct a count of the number of individuals and households identified to be without shelter, complete surveys with those identified, facilitate access to emergency shelters, and distribute care packages.
The count is performed in teams of four, which can request an accompanying police officer, though that is not guaranteed. The Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention will connect every volunteer team with a group of experienced providers.
The newly-scheduled LexCount will take place from 10-11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25.
