President Donald Trump approved emergency declarations for at least a dozen states on Saturday with more expected to come.

Gov. Andy Beshear made the announcement via a Facebook post on Saturday.

"Good news, Kentucky — the President has approved an emergency disaster declaration for this weekend’s winter storm. This means federal aid is immediately available. This will help us protect lives, and I am grateful for this crucial support," Beshear wrote.

The Governor has also activated Kentucky National Guard members across the state at 52 armory locations. Members began making rounds in local communities on Saturday to assist residents and teams prepared equipment for potential ice accumulations.

Power outages remain a main concern and officials are asking you to locate a warming center or shelter near you as temperatures continue below freezing.
