KU offering text alerts regarding power outages, restoration

KU

With a potentially historic blast of winter weather approaching Kentucky this weekend, Kentucky Utilities has launched a new instant text and call alert service to inform customers about power outages.

Using the new service, customers can receive automated texts or calls when an outage is detected at their homes or businesses, plus estimated restoration times and confirmation once power is turned back on.

KU already provides an interactive outage map on its mobile app, and the alerts are the latest feature to be added through the utility's secure digital communications network.

Customers can update their preferred contact information using KU's self-service options, such as the mobile app, online via My Account or the automated phone system.

For those signed up, text alerts will appear from 4LGEKU (454358) and automated phone calls will appear from 800-981-0600 for KU customers.
