Lexington neighborhood littered with white supremacy flyers ahead of MLK Day

WUKY/Clay Wallace

The flyers appeared in the Kenwick neighborhood Sunday, just as the city was preparing for Monday's Freedom March and Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration.

Blake Hall, president of the Kenwick Neighborhood Association, believes whomever distributed the flyers wanted to shock people on MLK Day.

"The fact that they were skulking around at night shows how cowardly they are and they know they wouldn't be welcome."

Hall said there were two different pieces of propaganda, one encouraging young people to join the KKK, the other calling for MLK day to be changed to celebrate the man who assassinated him, James Earl Ray.

Lexington Police are investigating.
