Jaland Lowe came off the bench to score 21 points, but the Cats saw the Tide make 15 three-point baskets, compared to just four for UK.
Kentucky (9-5, 0-1 Southeastern Conference) scored first on two Denzel Aberdeen free throws followed by a three from Collin Chandler to make it 5-0 early. Alabama scored the next nine points before Oweh stole the ball and converted a three-point play on the other end to get the Cats within one. However, the Tide hit a three to lead 12-8.
An Oweh layup got the Cats within two but the Tide scored the next five to lead 17-10. Jayden Quaintance scored underneath to get the Cats within five but Alabama scored to lead 19-12.
Mo Dioubate scored to get UK within five, but Alabama responded again on the other end. A Lowe layup made it 21-16, but the Tide scored the next nine to lead by 14.
Lowe hit a three, but Alabama answered with a three of its own to lead 33-19. Another Lowe bucket got the Cats within 12 but Alabama scored seven in a row before an Oweh dunk made it 40-23.
Alabama scored the next four before Kentucky got two free throws from Oweh and one from Dioubate to cut the deficit to 44-26. After a Tide three, Aberdeen scored on a layup and free throw to make it 47-29. An Oweh basket, a Dioubate free throw and two Oweh free throws closed out an 8-0 run that made it 47-34. However, the Tide hit a three and Alabama led 50-34 at the half.
Aberdeen started the scoring in the second half with two free throws and Oweh followed with a basket to get UK within 12 points, 50-38. Alabama scored but Oweh answered with a three and it was 52-41. The Tide hit a three of their own to lead 55-41.
A Malachi Moreno dunk and two Lowe free throws got UK within 10. However, the Tide responded with five points in a row before an Oweh fast-break dunk and a Dioubate bucket in the lane made it 60-49. Alabama again responded with a three to lead by 14.
Brandon Garrison hit a free throw, but the Tide hit another three to lead 66-50. A Lowe three-point play got the Cats within 13 but, as they did all day, the Tide answered.
Later, Moreno scored again to cut the Bama lead to 70-57, but the Tide scored the next six to lead by 19.
Kentucky would not go away. Lowe, Oweh and Quiantance scored on layups and Kam Williams hit a three to cut the deficit to 76-66. After an Alabama free throw, Lowe scored on a drive to get UK within nine. Alabama would hit two free throws before Lowe scored again to make it 79-70. However, the Tide scored the next five to lead by 14.
Lowe made one of two at the line to get UK within 13 but the Cats would get no closer.
Kentucky returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Missouri at Rupp Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on ESPN2.
