250 Lex Co-Chair Eunice Beatty says the public is invited to Central Bank Center and Rupp Arena for the Year-End Cheers to Lex party that features the unveiling of a special commemorative public art creation.
"We've sort of tossed back on the idea of a time capsule and how do we really want to put a bow on 250 lex for the year. And that's sort of where we landed," Beatty recently revealed on WUKY's Lex Talk History podcast. "So we're excited to see the final product and we're hoping the entire city, residents, visitors, all come out to Central Bank Center in the Rupp Arena area. It will be actually placed, installed on a wall in the corridor there," Beatty told hosts Alan Lytle and Mandy Higgins.
The community-inspired art wall was created in partnership with LexArts and the UK School of Art and Visual Studies as a permanent commemoration of the city's 250th anniversary year. The unveiling takes place Monday evening at 6:30.
