Otega Oweh scored 16 points, but No. 18 Kentucky lost to 11th-ranked Gonzaga 94-59 on Friday night at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Kentucky (5-4) got 11 points from Collin Chandler, but the Cats struggled shooting all night long. UK made just 16 of 60 (26.7 percent) of its shots in the game. Meanwhile, Gonzaga made 36 of 63 (57.1 percent) of its shots.

Gonzaga scored the first seven points of the game as Kentucky struggled from the field. UK missed its first five shots from the floor but did get on the board on an Oweh free throw. After another Gonzaga basket, Jaland Lowe made a free throw to make it 9-2.

The Zags would score the next 10 to build a substantial lead before Denzel Aberdeen hit a three from the corner to make it 19-5. It was UK’s first field goal of the game and it came at the 11:04 mark of the first half.

After a Gonzaga basket, Aberdeen completed the old fashioned three-point play, cutting the deficit to 21-8. The Bulldogs scored again but UK answered with a Brandon Garrison three to get within 12 points, 23-11. However, the Bulldogs scored the next seven to build a 19-point lead.

A Chandler three cut into the deficit, but Gonzaga answered with a three of its own before two Oweh free throws made it 33-16. However, Gonzaga scored the next eight to extend the lead again.

An Oweh layup made it 41-18 but Gonzaga led 43-20 at the half. Kentucky made just 5 of 31 (16.1 percent) from the field in the first half.

Oweh hit a three to start the second half, but Gonzaga scored the next four to lead 47-23. Later in the half, with Gonzaga leading 61-30, UK got back-to-back threes from Jasper Johnson and Trent Noah to cut the deficit to 61-36.

Gonzaga would lead by as many as 37 points in the second half.

Kentucky returns to action on Tuesday, hosting North Carolina Central at Rupp Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on the SEC Network.
