Clara Strack had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Cat, while Teonni Key had 11 points.
Kentucky (8-1) held the Hurricanes to 32 percent shooting from the field and just 11.1 percent from three-point range.
Miami scored first but UK got a basket from Strack, two free throws from Key and a three-point play from Jordan Obi to lead 7-2. After the Hurricanes scored, Morgan made two free throws and the Cats grabbed a 9-4 lead.
After a Miami basket, Asia Boone hit a three to build the UK lead to 12-6. The Hurricanes would answer with a 7-2 run to get within one, but Key scored the final points of the period and the Cats led 16-13 after one quarter.
Miami scored the first five points of the second quarter, grabbing an 18-16 lead. An Obi layup tied the game but the Hurricanes scored to lead 20-18. That’s when Strack hit a three, giving UK a 21-20 advantage.
After a Miami free throw, UK got a three-point play from Morgan and a Strack basket to build the lead to 26-21. Kentucky would lead 26-23 at the half.
Kentucky scored the first four points of the third quarter on a Key layup and a Strack putback. After Miami scored, Amelia Hassett nailed a three and the Cats led 33-25. Miami scored the next three to cut the deficit to 33-28.
Morgan scored the next six points, part of a 12-0 run that gave the Cats a 45-28 lead. Miami answered by scoring the next four, but a Strack layup gave UK a 47-32 lead. UK would lead 50-38 through three quarters.
Kentucky scored the first five points of the final stanza to lead 55-38. The Cats would lead by as many as 19 points before settling for the 17-point victory.
UK returns to action on Sunday, hosting Central Michigan inside Historic Memorial Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. ET and the game can be seen on SEC Network Plus.
