Clara Strack had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Teonni Key had 17 points and eight rebounds. Jordan Obi had 10 points for the Cats, who shot 52.5 percent from the field.Kentucky jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first seven points, including five from Strack.
After Louisville got on the board, UK got buckets from Morgan and Key to lead 11-2. However, the Cards would score the next 10 to lead for the first time, 12-11.
An Obi layup gave UK the lead back, but only briefly as the lead would change hands six times over the remainder of the quarter. Kentucky got a late layup from Strack and the Cats led 19-18 after 10 minutes of play.
Kentucky got a Key basket to start the second quarter but Louisville scored the next nine to lead 27-21.
Morgan scored consecutive baskets and Strack scored on a fast break layup to tie the game at 27-27. Morgan scored again to complete the 8-0 run, which gave UK a 29-27 lead.
After Louisville scored the next four, Lexi Blue hit a corner three to give the Cats a 32-31 advantage. The Cards took the lead back before Obi scored underneath to give Kentucky a 34-33 lead.
After Louisville took the lead back, Key converted a three-point play to make it 37-35, which would be the halftime score.
The third quarter started with an Amelia Hassett three. After the Cards got a basket, Key scored consecutive buckets to give UK a 44-37 lead. U of L scored to get within five, but UK got two buckets from Strack, a three from Hassett and an Obi basket to lead 53-39.
The run continued when Morgan scored and then found Obi underneath for a layup. The 13-0 run gave Kentucky a 57-39 lead. Louisville scored the final two points of the period, but the Cats outscored the Cards 20-6 in the period and led 57-41 with 10 minutes remaining.
Louisville scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter to cut the UK lead in half. A pair of Strack free throws ended the run and gave the Cats a 59-49 lead. After a Louisville free throw, Morgan drove to the basket for a layup, extending the lead to 11. Morgan scored on UK’s next possession and the Cats led 63-50.
The Cards scored five in a row to get within eight, but UK got baskets from Key and Morgan to lead 67-55. Louisville scored the next four before Key scored again, making it 69-59.Kentucky returns to action on Wednesday, facing nationally-ranked Maryland in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
