The countdown begins at 6:30 on Broadway with performances from Stewart Home School and Kentucky State University, plus a visit from Santa Claus. It’s the start of three days of holiday shopping and entertainment running through Saturday.

Executive Director of Downtown Frankfort Incorporated Suzy Hosley said the weekend offers more than just shopping - it’s an immersive experience.

“If you want a real life hallmark experience, you come to downtown Frankfort during Candlelight. The windows are decorated, the streets are decorated, we have a big, beautiful tree," said Hosley. " Our sponsor, CCU, they deck out the Old State Capitol lawn with beautiful life-size decorations.”

One life-size decoration is a returning favorite - the inflatable snow globe big enough to stand inside for a photo-op.

“Another fan-favorite is the horse carriage rides on Friday and Saturday nights," said Hosley.

New this year is Friday’s Pajama Sip and Shop, where visitors come wearing their coziest sleepwear.

This year, the Franklin County Community Fund will be downtown to promote the Frankfort Feeds fund, a community giving fund supporting local food programs with a $5000 matching grant. They are accepting monetary donations and nonperishable food items Thursday night.
