WUKY was one of 90 stations that carried the inaugural broadcast of “All Things Considered” when it debuted in 1971.
Today, it continues the public radio mission of informing and entertaining listeners with reliable local, national, and international news coverage and an eclectic blend of music.
"Live, local, and essential" was a theme of Wednesday night's celebration.
The station hosted a combination Public Radio Music Day/birthday bash by inviting listeners inside the WUKY studios for a live performance by Joslyn & the Sweet Compression; an art showing and meet and greet with the artists Jeff Enge, Jonathan Clark, and Sarah Culbreth; along with tasty treats and a costume contest.
