Image provided

Whether you’ve lived in Lexington all of your life or you’re a relative newcomer, there’s probably a story you haven’t heard, or a question you’ve always had, about some of our fascinating spots or quirky spaces. Author Fiona Young Brown joins us to talk about her new book Secret Lexington, A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure.

From Reedy Press:

Lexington has its secrets. Even those places that you think you know inside and out have little-known tales hidden in their history. It’s time to discover some of them.

Learn about the strange mounds in rural Fayette County and discover who created them. Uncover incredible pieces of art, some of them in plain view. What mural has a backstory in the remains of an old warehouse? What house is considered the masterpiece of a European architect? Where can you learn the rules of old-fashioned base ball (yes, that’s the correct spelling)? What artist had a much-loved pet goat? Who chases children from her house, long after she died? And what is going on underground?

From a tiny sculpture in the heart of downtown to romance at the county line, Secret Lexington guides you through some of the city’s most fascinating spots and introduces you to its equally fascinating people. Some stories you may never have heard before. Some you may think you know . . . until you read more.
