Beshear in Europe promoting state's job growth, attracting foreign companies to Kentucky

Associated Press

Gov. Andy Beshear will travel to the United Kingdom, Ireland, and France to meet with business leaders and trade officials, aiming to increase Kentucky's presence in the region and create more job opportunities here at home.

During the visit, Beshear will meet with more than 45 companies, 16 of which already have a presence in the commonwealth.

"Several of the companies I'm meeting with currently have active projects," Beshear said. "Combined, they have the potential to bring in 2,900 additional jobs and $3.5 billion in investment."

Beshear said he will also be exploring several new opportunities to bring more business to the state.

"We're also meeting with trade officials in the UK and France. This is important right now as the president and his ever-changing tariff policies are making trade more complicated and more challenging," Beshear said.

Trade officials from the United Kingdom and France are the second and third-largest export markets for Kentucky, with over $9.7 billion in goods exported to those countries last year alone.
