Tyler Childers takes readers 'On The Road' with library app Libby

The Hickman Holler Reading Club is a collaboration between Tyler Childers and Libby, an app which allows readers to borrow ebooks and audiobooks for free using a library card.

The reading club features a new recommendation from Childers each month, starting with Jack Kerouac’s “On The Road” - for which his current tour is named.

In a recent interview with GQ, Childers spoke of his appreciation of Kerouac's classic novel, which follows two friends on a road trip in search of freedom in 1940s America; the two encounter jazz, poetry, and drugs as the open road offers an escape from convention.

"Kerouac was my first real permission slip to be a spiritual wanderer," said Childers.

To read along, all you need is a library card. Libby offers access to collections through the Lexington Public Library and through Kentucky Libraries Unbound, a consortium of 112 public libraries across the state.
