Phoenix Park rises 'with new life' in downtown Lexington

Karyn Czar/WUKY

The one-acre park in downtown Lexington at Main Street and Limestone is redesigned with dozens of upgrades and new amenities.

Mayor Linda Gorton says the $4.6 million project features swinging benches, a dog park, and a three-story climbing playground. There’s also a stage for live music, a sensory play area for toddlers, interactive electronic games, and self-cleaning restrooms.

"With these updates and first in Lexington features, it not only revitalizes this downtown park, but it makes it a destination for families to visit," Gorton says.

Phoenix Park is open daily from sunup until 11 p.m.
