"The little podcast that could is going national," the governor said.
SiriusXM revealed that will be airing The Andy Beshear Podcast across its podcast network and its Progress channel — in addition to an "Andy Beshear Presents" live special series featuring conversations about leadership, bipartisanship, and issues shaping Kentucky and the nation.
The estimated reach of 33 million subscribers is raising eyebrows as Beshear is regularly quizzed on his political future and whether a run for the White House is in the cards.
For now, the Democrat is sticking to the kinds of comments he's made before.
"The reason that I wanted to do that isn't for some decision in the future," Beshear said. "It's that I think this country desperately needs to turn down the temperature and to focus more on common sense, common ground, and getting things done. And so, with this platform, that's where I want to be. That's what I want to do. I love this country and this country needs to heal."
Beshear certainly hasn't ruled out a presidential run, but he has made it clear he has no intentions of running for Senate.
That's despite public urging by a key political donor, Christy Brown of the Brown-Forman family, who authored an op-ed in the Courier Journal making the case that a Beshear Senate run could benefit the state and potentially influence the composition of the Supreme Court.
