EKU President Dr. David McFaddin said the university is consistently looking for ways to reduce financial barriers for students.
"One of the most appealing things for me, twenty-five, thirty years ago, was the affordability for the institution. That's something we've really stood by. So not only for our in-state students, but we're also trying to attract those out of state," McFaddin said. "We think that our university can be great economic engines in that way as we bring others from other states to come here and get degrees, and we've got such unique niche programs."
Some of those niche programs include aviation, fire science, and forensics.
According to U.S. News & World Report, the national average cost to out-of-state students pursuing a degree at a public university in the United States is just over $24,500, putting EKU’s new out-of-state rate costs less than half the national average.
