Kentucky is launching a new online initiative to get ahead of increasingly deft scammers.

"To the scammers that are emailing me saying I owe you toll money, give it up. We're coming after you."

That's how Sec. Ray Perry with the Public Protection Cabinet ended his comments during Team Kentucky Thursday, where the governor introduced stopscams.ky.gov.

The "one-stop" shop represents an effort to more quickly identify scams and get the information to Kentuckians faster, enhance reporting, provide tips, and alert visitors to resources that could help recover lost funds.

It's an essential tool in the fight to protect Kentuckians, especially older Kentuckians, older adults, and veterans from increasingly sophisticated scams," Gary Adkins, volunteer president of AARP Kentucky. said. "Access to trusted information and real time alerts empower consumers to stay one step ahead of fraud."

Website users can also sign up for scam alerts.
