Gov. Andy Beshear has already joined legal challenges over state school funding, changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, and pandemic funds.

Now, the governor is contesting $3.6 million in Unemployment Insurance Program funding, his office says, that has been improperly withheld, along with $32 million in National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure dollars meant for Kentucky projects.

Commenting on the latter, Beshear said, the program provides "critical funding that is helping every state, including Kentucky, build out an EV charging network that everyone can trust and rely upon," calling the halt in funding "simply wrong."

Beshear's moves in support of the lawsuits put Kentucky in a minority -- with most states being represented by their attorneys general. Kentucky's attorney general, Russell Coleman, is a Republican who has reliably thrown his support behind the Trump administration.
