Director Lyndy Franklin Smith is also the Artistic Director and co-founder of the Lex. She says the show, which is a story about family and perseverance, illuminates the mission of the company, and it appeals to a broad audience.
"It's a story that's familiar to most of us," Franklin Smith said. "But the other thing that I love about this show is and one of the reasons we wanted to put it in our 10th anniversary is because it's so multigenerational. So we have everything from our young kids choir all the way to our season pros."

One of those pros is Audrey Belle Adams, who plays the narrator. Adams is from Louisville and graduated from the University of Kentucky. She now lives in New York and is a professional actress.
Adams honed her craft with the Lexington Theatre Company while she was in college, learning from the Broadway actors who shared the stage with her beginning in 2016 with 'Mary Poppins.' Now she returns to perform in the female lead and become a mentor to the young artists in 'Joseph.'
"These are the moments that I feel are the most grounding and the most humbling because I remember looking up to these amazing stars that they brought in. And they were nothing but kind, and they wanted to know about you and wanted to know how they could support you on your journey," said Adams.
In the title role of Joseph is Darian Sanders, who is also from Kentucky and graduated from UK. He has several credits with the Lexington Theatre Company and most recently ended his journey as Simba in the national tour of Disney's 'The Lion King.'

Sanders returns to the Opera House to help celebrate the Lex's 10th anniversary and take on a dream role.
"It has been an exhilarating ride, the way that Lyndy has been so intentional about every single detail. Every aspect, from the dancing to the bits to the serious parts. You won't want to miss it," Sanders said. "You have to get down to the Opera House to see us."
