Ground broken on high-ground neighborhood in Eastern Kentucky

Team Kentucky

Gov. Andy Beshear joined local officials to break ground on the future site of New Hope Estates in Floyd County. The neighborhood will comprise 34 homes for flood survivors.

“Today, we’re breaking ground on a neighborhood that will provide a fresh start for so many families,” Beshear said. “These are Kentuckians who have been through so much, and they deserve a home where they will be safe and at peace. Today is a reminder that when we work together, and when we don’t leave anyone behind, we can make life better for our neighbors.”

The plans for homes at New Hope Estates were made at the site located outside the floodplain and close to downtown Prestonsburg in 2023.

The state is investing $2 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and $8 million in CDBG-Disaster Recovery funds, totaling $10 million.

If you were affected by the floods of 2021, 2022, or 2025, officials are asking you to fill out the Interest Form at HousingCantWait, and a representative from Fahe will get in touch with you.
