So far, according to Massie has at least seven Republican co-sponsors for his discharge petition that aims to mandate a vote on releasing the entirety of the investigative files tied to Epstein. It's a long-shot procedural maneuver that comes amid a reignited controversy over the files and moves by President Donald Trump to cast the investigation as a "hoax."
On social media, Massie wrote that the American people deserve to know "what's in the Epstein files, who's implicated, and how deep this corruption goes."
The move puts the outspoken Kentucky congressman back in the cross-hairs of the president, who is seeking to oust the lawmaker over a series of clashes — including Massie's opposition to the GOP tax and spending bill.
Massie says he expects to garner enough support for his Epstein petition by September. If all Democrats sign on, Republicans only need a handful of yes votes to move the procedure forward.
