Beshear to South Carolina Democrats: 'I’m the guy who’s won three straight races in deep-red Kentucky'

Associated Press

Governor Andy Beshear is spending time in South Carolina this week, the state expected to kick off Democrats’ nominating process before the 2028 presidential primary elections.

Beshear has said he is considering a run for the country's top office and is positioning himself as the Democrat who was able to win the governor's seat in a traditionally red state.

On Wednesday, he spoke at a pro-union convention where he touted some of his accomplishments in office, such as vetoing all anti-union legislation that crossed his desk, telling the crowd that he has "fought off Republican attempts to erode support for unions."

The Governor was asked about his uptick in travel across the country.

Beshear responded, "I'm traveling more because I'm trying to be a common sense, common ground, get things done type of voice that can pull not just Democrats back together but hopefully pull Repulicans and Indepents together too and say lets focus on these everyday needs of Americans. Let's depoliticize them and get people results."

During his South Carolina visit, Beshear is scheduled to meet with Democratic leaders and the International Longshoremen’s Association. He is also expected to speak at the Georgetown County Democratic Party Dinner.
