Some burgers are riffs on a classic - a beef patty with special toppings like pimento cheese, bourbon glaze, or apple chutney. There are also meat-free options, like Sassy Bleu’s vegan-friendly Sassy Shroom burger and Stella’s Kentucky Deli’s vegetarian Hot Brown Burger. Others take a little more freedom with the source material, like Crank and Boom’s Banana Nutella Split Burger - ice cream and sweet toppings on a donut bun - or the Chevy Chase Inn’s Cheeseburger Shot - tequila, tomato juice, and pickle juice.
The event is presented by the Kentucky Beef Council and produced by Smiley Pete Publishing. There are also prizes - burger fans can collect digital stamps through the Lexington Burger Week app, available for iPhone and Android. Netting three or more stamps is an entry to a drawing for an 8-pack of LexLive movie tickets, Six or more stamps is an entry to a drawing for a grill from the Kentucky Beef Council, and ten or more stamps is an entry to the grand prize drawing - a $360 dollar gift card to Harry’s and Drake’s.
