July is National Parks and Recreation Month. For the fourth year in a row, Lexington Parks and Recreation is celebrating with themed treats at local businesses with proceeds going toward Trees Lexington.
"Over the past three years, just through the National Parks and Recreation Month collaborations, we have been able to plant thirty trees across ten parks," said Adrienne Thakur, Deputy Director of Recreation at Lexington Parks. She says
Trees Lexington will select and plant trees according to the needs of the city's parks.
"We've had quite a bit of tree-fall from the windstorms over the past couple of years, so there are some vacancies," said Thakur. "And, then, new parks are developed and older parks will need new trees as those trees age."
Each participating business will feature a special product for a week, with sales benefiting Trees Lexington.
