"I know every penny counts and that these savings can really add up," Beshear said. "Whether you're driving to school, to work, headed to church or headed out on a family trip, at least here in Kentucky, your gas is going to cost a little bit less starting July 1st."
The Beshear administration has reduced the gas tax by 12% over the past two years, resulting in a total decrease of 3.7 cents per gallon.
State gas taxes are based on the wholesale price of fuel, as determined by a formula required by state law. Funds raised are used for the maintenance and construction of Kentucky's roadways.
