UPDATE: Tuesday, 11:30 a.m.
Kentucky State Police are investigating a shooting and crash involving a police officer in a Madison County Walmart parking lot.
Berea police were at the local Walmart investigating. A car that was reported stolen was spotted in the parking lot around 6:30 Tuesday morning, just as the store was opening.
“There were other people inside of Walmart at this time. It was early in the morning.”

“When officers approached the vehicle, the driver placed the vehicle in reverse, striking one of the officers. Once that officer was struck, he discharged his firearm and struck two individuals inside of the vehicle,” Kearney said. “At this time, two individuals have been transported to a local hospital, as well as the police officer, with minor injuries.”
All three have since been discharged from the hospital. At least four bullet holes could be seen in the back windshield.
Berea police said three people were in the car, and one of those passengers was taken into custody at the scene. As is standard procedure, Kentucky State Police are leading the investigation into the shooting.
