DanceBlue's signature event, a 24-hour dance marathon, kicks off on Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m. and will go until the same hour on Sunday.
Hannah Talley, DanceBlue overall chair, said the marathon is an all day, no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon. There are roughly 950 participants that will be expected to be on their feet for the entire 24 hours.
DanceBlue is a UK student organization committed to fundraising for the DanceBlue Hematology/Oncology Clinic, which treats children with pediatric cancer.
Public relations officer Sammy Tate said the event is an entry point for people who want to get involved.
"A lot of us fell in love with this mission, with this cause, through this event. Many people don't really understand what it is until they get here, and then they get here, and then they see all of the joy that it brings," Tate said. "We love having our clinic families here. It allows them to have a little bit of normalcy in some dark times of theirs."
For DanceBlue 2025, the marathon is returning to the place where it all began in the recently renovated UK Memorial Coliseum. UK alumni, parents and children of the clinic will be there to watch the marathon.
Tate said he welcomed everyone to come watch the marathon and celebrate DanceBlue's 20th anniversary.
"It's truly one of the greatest events and one of the greatest things that I personally have been a part of, and I think that a lot of people will get that same sense," Tate said.
Visitors can come watch the marathon at any point during the twenty four hours.
