The 90-minute event was broadcast live over social media, and Barr was asked the gamut of questions ranging from the future of Medicaid, Medicare, and social security, tariffs, the economy, and concerns over what some are calling Elon Musk's carte blanche control of DOGE.
“None of us voted for a South African billionaire to come and rummage through our private financial and health information,” one caller said.
Barr responded that "77 million Americans elected this President and this agenda."
Barr added that, “We’re tackling the debt. We're going to grow our economy by unleashing domestic energy, restoring an energy-dominant strategy that will bring down costs and restore investor confidence in the United States.”
Congressman Barr was invited to an in-person town hall held at the Kentucky Theatre this past weekend, but he declined, calling these events "shouting matches."
He posted on social media that participants were paid to be there; a claim we found unsubstantiated. When asked during last night's forum specifically how many had been paid to attend that event or to protest the current administration, Barr backpedaled.
“We don't know, you know, where some of these protesters are from. That's okay,” said Barr. “They have a right to protest all they want, but I think it does show what a vibrant and healthy democracy that we all live in.”
