Lexington St. Patrick's parade canceled; Festival performances moved indoors due to severe weather threat

Alan Lytle

Organizers have announced that the Lexington St. Patrick's Parade, scheduled for Saturday, has been canceled due to severe weather potential and a high wind advisory. Festival performances will be moved indoors to the Lyric Theatre beginning at 10:30 a.m.

"While this was not the decision we wanted to make, the safety of our participants, attendees, event staff and volunteers is our paramount concern," said Megan Moloney, parade chair. "The potential for severe weather would create difficult conditions for spectators, as well as parade marchers, floats and our stage performers. However, we’re glad to be able to offer a ‘mini-festival’ at the Lyric Theatre."

The relocated event at the Lyric Theatre will feature performances by local Irish dance groups, pipe bands, and musical groups. An updated entertainment schedule will be released Friday and can be found at lexingtonstpatsparade.org/festival/ and on the event's Facebook page.
