A bill aimed at urging public college and universities to crack down on incidents of antisemitism is poised for final passage in the Kentucky House.

Senate Joint Resolution 55 orders the schools to adopt policies to combat antisemitism and requires them to collect data on antisemitic incidents on campus and deliver it to the Council on Postsecondary Education.

The measure also calls for universities to defund and disband any student organization that has provided "material support or resources to a designated terrorist organization." Rep. Stephen Doan, a Republican, asked who would be making that call.

"I think the Anti-Defamation League has also designated my congressman as an anti-Semite. So I want to understand who's designating those groups as a terrorist organization," he said.

Democratic Rep. Daniel Grossberg, a supporter of the resolution, said the definitions would align with the State Department's listing of terrorist organizations.

The measure is now on its way to the house. If enacted, schools would have until June 30, 2028 to comply.
