Beshear takes plea for individual federal storm assistance directly to the White House

Associated Press

As of Thursday, 15 people are confirmed to have died due to severe weather that has wreaked havoc on the state for the last seven days. Today, the governor will have a chance to appeal directly to the White House regarding the state's needs.

Governor Andy Beshear is in Washington, DC today/Friday for a National Governor's Association Meeting where he expects to see Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and others who can help Kentucky receive more federal assistance following deadly flooding this past week.

“So, I’m going to take our plea and our peoples’ plea directly into the White House, answer any questions. Again, this administration’s been working really well with us during this natural disaster,” Beshear said. “This is just the next step that we need from them and I look forward to talking to them directly.”

Earlier this week, Beshear requested individual assistance through FEMA from the Trump administration.
