Kentucky House Democrats lay out priorities for 2025

Party leaders say their focus for this short session is on five categories: public education, household economics, workers' rights, public safety, and healthy communities.

Bills with a focus on health and health care include a cap on the cost of epi-pens, loosening restrictions on the state's medical cannabis program, which is among the strictest in the country, and an expansion on last year's omnibus bill, which would include Medicaid coverage of midwives and improved postpartum care.

Representative Adam Moore of Lexington recounted a medical emergency his wife experienced at the delivery of their son, Remy.

"In those moments when time stops, nothing else matters, not where you live, not how much money you make, not who you vote for. All that matters is that the person that you love gets the care that they need," Moore said.

That's adequate health care, and it's the reason I have my family, and Remy has his mom today. The House Democratic caucus calls the platform Kentucky forward. Not all of the proposed bills have yet been filed.
