During his Team Kentucky update last week, Governor Andy Beshear reiterated that Kentucky's voting system is secure.
“I know because I was Attorney General and ran the Election Integrity unit for four years. I know because of the experience of the past years and because you’ve heard from Democrats and Republicans that this system is secure and that everybody’s vote will be cast.”
Besehar cautioned Kentuckians against believing and sharing misinformation that has flooded social media alleging voter fraud. According to the FBI, those videos are being streamed from other countries and have been debunked.
“Your spreading of misinformation could disenfranchise somebody who should get out there and vote regardless of how they’re going to vote. If you are a true American then you ought to believe in our democracy and be encouraging everybody out there to exercise their constitutional right.”
Beshear announced the Kentucky Emergency Management’s statewide emergency operation center will also be open on Election Day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. to help provide local officials with extra resources if any issues or concerns come up.
