A Syrian-American Offers A View From Kentucky

Controversy over the Syrian refugee crisis has brought the issue home to Lexington and Kentucky. So what does the picture look like for a local student who with close ties to the Syria? To find out, WUKY sat down with Nadia Almasalkhi, a University of Kentucky sophomore, to get her perspective on the ongoing civil war, news coverage of the region, and the reaction here in the U.S.

Josh James fell in love with college radio at Western Kentucky University's student station, New Rock 92 (now Revolution 91.7). After working as a DJ and program director, he knew he wanted to come home to Lexington and try his hand in public radio.
