WUKY SportsPage Episode 16: Alan Sullivan

Alan Lytle

If you're 'jonesing' for some sports stuff, Keith Elkins has your cure.  This week he welcomes in Alan Sullivan, son of the legendary Kentucky broadcaster Claude Sullivan.  In their book "Voice of the Wildcats," Alan Sullivan and Joe Cox give the behind-the-scenes account of the man whose voice embodied UK Athletics from 1947 to 1967.  Keith and Alan, who is currently a healthcare architect, discuss many of the highs and lows of Claude Sullivan's career and play some of Claude's classic calls including two UK National Championships, Vernon Hatton's half court miracle shot against Temple, on the scene reporting from Russia and his brief stint as a play by play man for the Cincinnati Reds.

"Voice of the Wildcats: Claude Sullivan and the Rise of Modern Sportscasting," is published by University Press of Kentucky.
