Big Blue Crush

In one of the closest competitions in the event’s 38-year history, Kentucky Blood Center pulled away from Tennessee’s MEDIC Regional Blood Center on Friday to win the 2025 Big Blue Crush. Kentucky prevailed with 2,143 donors over the five-day competition, edging Tennessee’s 2,018.

Kentucky donors improved on their first-day score in the 38th annual Big Blue Crush blood drive, but Tennessee’s record day on Tuesday flipped the leaderboard.

Kentucky fans have staked the early advantage in the 38th annual Big Blue Crush by the slimmest of margins. Just 10 donors separate Kentucky Blood Cener and Tennessee’s MEDIC Regional Blood Center in the yearly push to boost the Thanksgiving blood supply.

Starting Monday the crush is on to collect more pints than our counterparts in the Volunteer state.

Kentucky donors topped Tennessee all five days of Big Blue Crush to help Kentucky Blood Center win the 37th annual event over MEDIC Regional Blood Center out of Knoxville, Tennessee. Kentucky fans totaled 2,453 to Tennessee’s 2,059. KBC’s 2,453 total is the best for either side in the event since 2019.
