For over 130 years, Aunt Jemima was an American icon. But did you know she was originally portrayed by Nancy Green, a formerly enslaved Black woman from Montgomery County Kentucky?

WUKY has once again partnered with Athens West Theatre Companyto bring you Kentucky’s Pancake Queen: How Nancy Green Became Aunt JemimaThe script was written by Bo List and stars Debra Faulk as Nancy Green.

The show airs Monday May 17th at 8pm on 91.3fm. The broadcast will be followed by post-performance Q&A on Zoom featuring members of Athens West Theatre Company, WUKY, and a few special guests. The show will also re-air on Sunday May 23rd at 8pm. Tune in to 91.3fm or online at WUKY.org.
